Did you know that tea can absorb different odors and is sensitive to light, moisture and heat?
Keeping your tea in a location away from sources of heat, moisture, odors, and light is essential for maintaining the quality and freshness of your tea leaves.
A common mistake some people make is storing tea next to coffee or spices or in the fridge potentially exposing it to moisture and odors, eventually making the tea smell and taste bad. This is why it is so important to have an appropriate container and place to store your tea.
Also, remember to keep your tea away from humid places to avoid moisture on the leaves. Storing your tea in an airtight container preferably in a nice cool area should prevent this. If possible, we recommend designating a separate tea area within your kitchen cabinets.
At My Tea Places most of our premium teas are packaged in protective foil pouches within a tamper sealed container or in a cylinder tin to prevent heat, moisture and light from damaging the tea leaves. Some of our smaller zip pouches have been chosen because they help preserve your tea’s aroma, quality and flavor as well, please make sure it is well sealed and stored in a good location at home or at your office. If your tea comes in a tin, all you need to do is keep your tea in the little bag inside the tea container. Also, to preserve maximum freshness upon opening, put a clip to close the silver bag until all the tea is consumed.
We’d love to hear where you store your tea, send us a message and let us know if you have any questions.
