Geneva's Adoption Story and New Memories

Dear Tea Friends,

As we celebrate the 9th anniversary of Geneva’s Gotcha Day (Adoption Day), we are delighted to share a special tea box created in her honor. This year, we curated two beautiful tea selections from Japan that reflect Geneva’s warmth, sweetness, and charming personality.

Box A features a comforting Hojicha from Kagoshima and a refreshing Sencha from Shizuoka, while Box B includes Matcha and Hojicha Powder, perfect for cozy daily rituals and creative tea moments alike.

Today, we would also love to share a little of Geneva’s story with you.

It may sound a little funny, but when Garrett and I talked about adopting a cat, one of his main requirements was that he did not want a cat that meowed very much. As for me, I simply hoped for a cat that would bond with both of us. Garrett had his checklist, and I had mine.

Geneva was the very last cat we met that day at the shelter. The moment we saw her, her gentle and sweet nature completely won us over. Interestingly, she stayed completely silent during our first meeting. Then, the next day, while I was bringing her home, she let out the tiniest little chirp, revealing her soft voice as though she had been saving it for just the right moment.

On her first night with us, Geneva was incredibly shy and spent most of her time hiding. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, she burst into a flurry of energy, racing through the apartment and leaping across the furniture at full speed. We looked at each other wondering, “What kind of cat did we just adopt?” and jokingly questioned whether this might have been why she ended up at the shelter in the first place.

After a little research, we learned that these playful nighttime sprints are perfectly normal cat behavior. In fact, Geneva’s joyful zoomies only made us love her even more.

There is so much more to Geneva’s story than we could ever fit into a single blog post, and new memories continue to unfold every day. We look forward to sharing a little more of her journey with you inside your Geneva Tea Box 2026.
