HOJICHA POWDER
Place: Kirishima Mountains, Kagoshima Prefecture, Southwestern tip of the Island of Kyushu, Japan
Profile: subtle caramel sweetness, roasted pecans, notes of chocolate
Our Hojicha powder is a roasted green tea from the volcanic region of Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan that delivers a naturally sweet, toasty flavor, making it a favorite alternative to matcha. Unlike matcha, which is made from shade-grown leaves, Hojicha powder is created by roasting hojicha tea leaves, stems, and twigs over charcoal, giving it a warm brown hue and a distinct aroma of caramelized nuts.
Net Wt: 30g (1.05 oz) in an elegant black tin
Ingredients: Organic Roasted Green Tea Powder
Preparing Hojicha
With a Traditional Whisk
Measure - measure approximately one teaspoon of hojicha powder using a bamboo scoop (chashaku) into your tea bowl (chawan)
Add Water - proceed to add 60 ml of warm filtered water.
Whisk - Hold your tea bowl with one hand, and hold your bamboo whisk (chasen) in the other. Use a gentle circular motion to break up large clumps, then switch to a rapid zigzag pattern to whisk up the hojicha powder.
Enjoy - Add more water, or pour the tea over milk for a Kyoto-style iced hojicha latte.

Tea Tip: Storing Your Hojicha
To keep your Hojicha fresh and flavorful, always seal the tin tightly after each use. Store it in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, heat, moisture, and strong odors. Proper storage helps preserve the tea’s delicate aroma and taste.
