Story
Tieguanyin Oolong – Taiwan, 2025 Harvest
I first tried this Tieguanyin Oolong in 2023 during a sourcing trip to Taiwan, when I visited the Bai Family. The memory of that tea was so vivid that when this year’s harvest arrived, it was the very first tea I opened among all the teas I sourced—and it was just as delightful as I remembered.
Tieguanyin Oolong is one of my favorite teas to collect. Each version tells its own story through terroir, oxidation, baking, and craftsmanship. This Taiwanese Tieguanyin is a stunning example of the cultivar, and it makes a wonderful tea to compare and contrast with Tieguanyin Oolongs from other regions.
As we celebrate 5 years of selecting specialty teas at My Tea Places, this tea feels especially meaningful—a perfect reminder of why we love sharing these treasures with you.
The Tieguanyin cultivar originated in Fujian Province, later making its way to Taiwan, where it has taken on new character and depth. Legends surround this tea, with many variations passed down through generations. With your order, I’ll include my favorite version of the story in a note, so your tasting experience is infused with history as well as flavor.
